H+H Architects were engage to transform a once-disused operating theatre, into a modern and fully functional emergency department poised to serve the evolving needs of the Mount Barker community. With a keen understanding of the demands of modern healthcare, we delivered an advanced resuscitation bay, two acute care bays, and a purpose designed nurses’ station. The project also includes ancillary spaces that prioritize functionality and enhance the overall efficiency of the department. Our vision was not just about redesigning a space, but reimagining how small scale contemporary emergency care can be delivered, ensuring both medical staff and patients experience an environment that’s as efficient as it is comforting.

H+H Architects were engaged by Pioneer Health to undertake the interior design of the new Mackenzie Centre, including new reception space, general medical rooms and dental clinic. The colour palette of the reception is bright and fresh, creating a sense of both calm and professionalism. The material selections include antimicrobial fabrics and materials, which ensure a durable, clean, and safe environment and consideration of staff and patient well-being. The integration of timber laminate accents brings a touch of nature indoors, promoting an overall sense of comfort via biophilic design. The organic form of the reception counters frame the main atrium, and provide a welcoming feel to the space with soft curvature and clean lines. The treatment rooms and clinical spaces feature a neutral colour scheme with practical surfaces including vinyl and laminate cabinetry.

In June 2017 the WA Government announced the Sustainable Health Review, a reform aimed at making the health system more patient-centred and to provide high quality and financially sustainable health care to help Western Australians receive excellent care closer to home. Recommendations from the Sustainable Health Review to improve access and provide efficient and effective service delivery models, including telehealth, as well as a significant increase in the demand for the provision of ambulatory care service consultations led WA Country Health Service (WACHS) to develop a new Ambulatory Care Facility located at the Homemaker Centre in Bunbury.
H+H Architects were engaged as the lead design consultant for the new Ambulatory Care Facility which consists of medical consultation rooms, a rehabilitation gym, telehealth meeting rooms, podiatry treatment rooms, group meeting spaces, administration and staff offices and a fully secure outdoor breakout space. This highly functional and modern facility has been designed in accordance with the Australian Health Facility Guidelines and WA Country Health Engineering Guidelines.
Hawthorn House is a purpose built day centre and respite facility constructed in 2014 for Alzheimers Western Australia. The brief for the centre was developed using the Eden design principles which is a philosophy based on ensuring health, wellness and quality of life within aged care communities. The building was carefully designed to provide a relaxed homely feel for the staff and clients whilst incorporating all the statutory and best practice requirements of a modern energy efficient health care facility.
Situated on the Albany Health Campus the new hospice has been designed to provide end of life care in a non institutional, sensitive caring home style environment. The 8 rooms open to sunny landscaped courtyards separated from a family focussed court. The facility includes a number of quiet contemplative spaces for individual and family gatherings while providing specialised medical care of the highest standard to the Great Southern region.
This project is mid- way through construction and due to be complete in December 2015.
Eucla Silverchain involved the design and delivery of one of Australia's most remote medical facilities. The building was designed to respond to the harsh coastal environment while minimising long term operating and maintenance costs, with on site power generation and water harvesting and treatment to reduce the facilities reliance on expensive locally produced power and potable water. Experienced with working remotely, H+H was able to deliver to Silverchain a hospital quality facility on time and within budget.
This project involved the replacement of the existing Walpole Health Centre with a contemporary facility that provided the Walpole Community with a clinical treatment facility suitable for general and emergency situations, consulting rooms for local and visiting medical practitioners, facilities for Homecare and Child and Family Services and general community health education and resource facilities. This facility was a prototype for Silver Chain Health Centers across the state.
The southern Regional Medical Group consisted of alterations and additions to create a new specialist wing within existing medical centre to provide consulting rooms and training facilities for Obstetrician and pregnancy care. Careful programming was required to maintain operation of the Practice and to meet very tight time frames. The Project was completed under the Federal Governments Super clinic program and was designed in detail to meet all current health care standards. The project was completed in 2011 and is now fully operational and operating very successfully.
This project involved an addition to an existing Medical Centre located in a converted local heritage house. The addition provided a new Reception and Waiting area that linked the heritage house with another small building on the site. By linking the buildings the Medical Centre gained several additional Consulting and Procedure rooms.
